THAI PARANGS

Parang is a traditional chopper used by the Dayak People of Borneo. This style blade originates in Indonesia, but has expanded to Thailand and other areas of Southeast Asia in the past several decades.

Here is a collection of handmade traditional parangs made in Thailand by a local blacksmith. It's designed to have a long reach for chopping bamboo and tall brush and branches. These blades are anywhere from 14"-21" long. Some have Rosewood Padauk handles, or other tropical hardwood from Thailand. The 3/4 stick tang features a brass or stainless steel pin, with a brass or stainless steel rounded guard. Using imported 1095 steel, these blades are hard hitting and long lasting, being an ideal steel for a heavy performance long chopper.
